Beyond Barriers Offers Durable Medical Equipment Through Medical Loan Closet ​

Beyond Barriers wants to raise awareness of the availability of its Medical Loan Closet, a community service providing access to essential durable medical equipment for individuals in need.  

“Whether you’re recovering from surgery, managing a disability, or supporting a loved one’s mobility and independence, Beyond Barriers is here to help,” said Erica Rivera, Executive Director, Beyond Barriers.  ​​

Available equipment includes walkers, rollators, wheelchairs, canes, commodes, toilet seat risers, shower chairs, and even video magnifiers. Powered mobility devices such as power chairs and scooters are also available on a limited basis.  ​​

Equipment is loaned for as long as it is needed, with a small one-time application fee—just $5 for most items and $25 for powered equipment. Please note that equipment availability varies, and individuals are encouraged to contact Beyond Barriers in advance to check for specific items. 

“We believe that no one should go without the equipment they need to live with dignity and independence,” said Rivera. “Our Medical Loan Closet is designed to fill the gap for those who may not have insurance coverage or access to other resources.” 

In addition to medical equipment, Beyond Barriers also offers limited personal hygiene items.  ​​
